Bar Graph
Topic: Interpreting Data presented in double Vertical and double horizontal bar graphs
Grade 4, Quarter4th
Goal: The students should be able create and interpret simple representations of data (tables and bar graphs) and describe outcomes in simple experiments.
Objectives:
At the end of the performance task, the students should be able to:
-
Create a bar graph that will show the data that you gathered in the task.
-
Interpret data presented in different kinds of bar graphs.
Materials:
Projected and non-projected media
Lesson Procedure:
-
The teacher will give an activity to her students called “Guess the movie”. The teacher will show pictures of the cartoon movies on the board, and the students will guess the title of the movie.
-
The teacher will asks her class about their favorite movies and count the students for each movie that they chose.
-
The data that they will gather will be presented into bar graph, to easily identify the class movies most favorite.
-
The teacher will ask her students to define bar graph, and ask them its importance.
-
The teacher will discuss the different kind s of bar graphs (vertical/horizontal, single/double bars).
-
The teacher will divide the class into 4 groups. Each group will have data that they need to present into bar graphs. And one of the representatives of each group will discuss their work.
-
The teacher will give them guide questions such as:
What is the title of the bar graph?
What is the purpose of presenting data into bar graph?
The teacher will give an assignment about the Interpreting Data presented in double Vertical and double horizontal bar graphs.
