Hi I'm Pia! My teaching experience revolve around Multiple-Intelligences Learning Approach and my chosen topic is Weather Components and Weather Instruments. Enjoy!
Description of the assigned teaching strategy
Multiple-Intelligence Learning Approach is a technique that utilizes all types of learners. In this approach Gardner says that there are 7 types of learners such as Visual-Spatial learners can be taught through drawing and physical imagery. They love the activities involving puzzles and maps. Bodily-kinesthetic learners have a keen sense of awareness they like to movements and learn better through physical activity and role playing. Musical type of learners show sensitivity in rhythm and sound. They love music and cope up with lessons even better through converting lessons into lyrics. Interpersonal learners love to interact with others. They are most likely to excel when they are in a form of peers or groups. Intrapersonal learners tune in with their inner feelings as a tool of learning. They can be independent and spent most of their time alone and wants privacy. Linguistic type of learners use words to express their knowledge. They have high development of auditory skills which involves reading, writing and listening to stories. Lastly, Logical-Mathematical are the type of learners who love to compute, explore patterns and relationships. They van learn through investigations logic games and mysteries.
Learning Experience
Though it is not my first time to demo, I still feel like I will do it for the first time. I feel anxious, nervous and at the same time excited and positive. I look forward to every detail of it, from the approach itself and doing the lesson plan. I must admit that I had a hard time choosing my topic and doing my lesson plan for demo because I am over thinking on what will happen on the day of my demo and how I will maximize the given time integrating in the lesson my assigned approach. The first thing I did was a depth research on MILA and finally decided on my topic. Even outlining the lesson plan with the inclusion of the approach gave me a hard time I think it’s because I spend most of my time procrastinating and thinking and that is why I ended up cramming the whole thing. The lesson I learned from this demo teaching that I will surely bring is that give enough time and effort not only on the day of your grand demo but as well as every teaching opportunity. As a teacher, I should be always ready in different scenarios in a classroom and as I observed, teachers should always provide strategies that are new to students, something that they didn't know yet to bring excitement, enthusiasm and challenge every meeting. Millennials/Students connect more if you give them an activity that is authentic and has a great impact to their life. I know I am not at my best during that time but I know there is always a room for improvement and hopefully the next time I teach will be the best ones having with me the lessons I learned from this unforgettable learning experience.
Other Learning Experience
One of the most relevant learning experiences I had that is way out about my demo teaching is about being cooperative and helping out my classmate to succeed in their demo teaching. I think we should know the value of respect and know the proper behavior when your classmate acts as a demo teacher. It is my biggest failure as a classmate, a participant in demo and as a simple human being. We should always treat our classmate the same way we do with our professors while they are teaching. We should act as a decent human knowing our limits and boundaries. We should always keep in mind that demo teaching is a serious matter to deal with, constructive criticism is a big help but we should do it right. We can approach our classmate after he/she is done with his/her demo not on the time that he/she is performing. Personally, sometimes I failed to do what is right. Hopefully next time I can do it in the appropriate way.  Demo teaching is not always about the grade but the experiences you will gain. The victory of their demo teaching is not only how they performed but as well as how we participated.
