Planes and lines figures

Title: lines

Goal: The learners should be able to solve routine and non-routine word problems involving division of 3- to 4-digit numbers by 1- to 2-digit numbers including money using appropriate problem-solving strategies and tools.

Covered Competencies:

  • describe and illustrate parallel, intersecting, and perpendicular lines

  • draw perpendicular and parallel lines using a ruler and a set square

Group the pupils into six teams. Ask each group to work together in illustrating the given figures to show the different kinds of lines using cut outs.

Group 1: Crossroads

Group 2: Time using hands of the clock

Group 3: Designs of a ceiling

Group 4: Design of a Tshirt

Group 5: Electric Posts

Group 6: Window panes

After all the groups have finished, ask them to put their output in the folder with their reflections in doing the performance task. Let them tell something about the figures that they formed and what kind of lines each figure shows in front of the class.
