Topic: 10, 001 – 100, 000

Grade 4, Quarter 1st

         

Goal: The students demonstrate understanding about numbers from 10,001 – 100, 000 in digits and in words and relate it to real-life situation.

 

Objectives:

At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:

  1. Determine numbers from 10, 000 – 100, 000

  2. Solve problems regarding whole numbers

  3. Translate numbers in words and words in number

Materials

Projected and Non-Projected media, Blackboard and Chalk

Lesson Procedure:

  • The students will have an activity named Minimum to Maximum.

  • All the students will be given a card that has a single-digit number.

  • After receiving the card they will be grouped equally.

  • Each group will form a line and will arrange themselves according to the category e.g. shortest-tallest given by the teacher.

  • The group who will first shout MATH IS FUN with correct arrangement will earn the point.

  • The group who will reach the 5th point first will be the winner.

  • The arrangement of formed number in the last round will be posted in the board.

  • After the activity, the teacher can proceed to lesson proper.

  • From the activity, the place values will be introduced.

  • The teacher will rely on the given examples on the board to discuss place values.

  • The teacher will give drills of translating numbers into words and vice versa.

  • The teacher will call five volunteers from the class to answer the board.

  • The teacher will synthesize the answer.

  • The teacher will review the lesson.

  • The teacher will discuss the performance task.
