Topic: Digestive System

Grade 6, Quarter 2

Goal: The students should be able to establish understanding of how the major organs of the digestive system work together.

​

Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

1. define and label the different organs found in the digestive system.

2. Identify the use of each organs that make up the digestive system.

3. explain how the organs of digestive system work together.

4. make a model of digestive system

5. create a list of guidelines that could help in checking first the food before eating it.

Materials:

LCD projector, yarn, glue, cartolina, marker, tape, 5pcs of colored paper, and scissors, and powerpoint presentation.

Motivation:

1. The teacher will ask 8 volunteer students to the find the 8 words related to digestive system.

• Answer: esophagus, digest, absorption, mouth, rectum, anus, liver, stomach)

Lesson Procedure

1. Prior to schema of the students teacher will ask what digestive system is.

2. The teacher will post a chart of digestive system, and 10 students will label each organs.

3. Teacher will check if the label of each organs are correct.

4. The teacher will show a video clip on how the digestive system works. And these are following questions that will help students for later activity.

• What are the function of each major organs of digestive system?

• What are the steps in digesting food?

• How the organs in digestive system works together?

 6.  The class will be divided into 4 groups. Each group will receive envelop that contain the following materials; yarn, glue, cartolina, marker, tape, 5pcs of colored paper, and scissors)

7. Within 5-10 minutes, students will make a model of digestive system.  As the group finish the model they can post it on the board.

8. Using their own model of digestive system, two representatives will discuss and explain how the organs of digestive system works together.

9. Teacher will summarizes the work of her/his students about how organs of digestive system works together.
