Topic: Improper Fraction and Mixed Number

Grade 4, Quarter 2nd

Goal: The students demonstrate understanding of Improper Fractions and Mixed Numbers and connect it in real-life situations.

 

Objectives:

At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:

  1. Identifies Proper Fractions, Improper Fractions and Mixed Numbers.

  2. Changes Improper Fractions to Mixed Numbers.

 

Materials:

Projected and Non-Projected Media, Blackboard and Chalk

Lesson Procedure:

  • The teacher will show figure of Proper Fractions, Improper Fraction and Mixed Number.

  • The teacher will call 8 students to identify whether it is Proper, Improper Fraction and Mixed Number.

  • The teacher will synthesize their answers.

  • The teacher will have a storytelling on scenarios about Fractions.

  • The students who want to answer will represent it in the board.

  • From the written example, Improper Fraction and Mixed Number will be introduced.

  • The teacher will proceed to the lesson proper.

  • The teacher will ask the students what are difference they observe between Proper Fraction, Improper Fraction and Mixed Number.

  • The teacher will synthesize their answers.

  • The teacher will discuss how to convert Improper Fraction into a Mixed Number and vice versa.

  • The teacher will give drills after the discussion.

  • The teacher will review the lesson.

  • The teacher will discuss the performance task.
