Water in the Environment
Title: Sources and Importance of Water
Grade 4, 4th Quarter
Goal: The learners should be able to demonstrate understanding of the different sources of water suitable for human consumption and realize the importance of water in our daily life.
Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

explain the use of water from different sources in the content of daily activities;

infer the importance of water in daily activities; and

describe the importance of water cycle.

Motivation:
Activity Title: Solve Me!
Mechanics:

The students need to group themselves into 2. Each group will be given a task to arrange the jigsaw puzzle by going to the website given to them. They are only given 3 minutes to finish the task.
-
The first 5 groups who will be able to solve the puzzle will be given prizes.
By doing this activity, the students will have an idea about the lesson for that day.
Lesson Procedure
In this lesson, the teacher will use “ICT approach” where educational technologies such as online videos and activities are used to create meaningful learning.

Before starting the lesson, the teacher will play a short video to give the students an idea about the different sources of water.

There are some questions that the students need to answer after watching the video.
Guide Questions:

What are the different sources of water?

Do you think water is important to our lives? And, why?
By answering the questions, the teacher will have an idea about the students’ background knowledge. Then, she will connect those ideas to introduce the topic or lesson.

In the discussion, the students will listen about the different sources of water.

Then, after discussing it shortly, the students will play an activity that will show the importance of water.
Activity Title: Completing the Table
Mechanics:

The class will be divided into 4 groups. Each group will have 5 to 6 members.

The task of each group is to complete the table based on what they know about the importance of water cycle into the environment.

The Group 1 will answer the column of Humans.
-
The Group 2 will answer the column of Plants.
-
The Group 3 will answer the column of Animals.
-
The Group 4 will answer the column of Environment.
-

Then, one representative of each group will present and briefly explain it in the class. The activity will be only 3 minutes.
-
The students who will have the greatest number of ideas posted in the table will be the winner of the activity and will be given prizes.
-
After playing the activity, the teacher will discuss some uses of water in the content of daily activities.

To introduce the next topic, the teacher will play another activity.
Activity Title: Look and Guess!
Mechanics:

The teacher will present some pictures then the students will tell what the scrambled word by is looking at the pictures.

The students who will get the correct answer will be given prizes.

After playing an activity, the teacher will play another video which is about “Water cycle” that will let the students have a background knowledge.

What are the different process of water cycle?

Then, she will proceed to the last topic which is the Water Cycle.

For the “Assessment”, the teacher will give an activity which will serve as “review” to test if they really learned all the lesson.
Activity Title: It’s Kahoot time!
Mechanics:

The teacher will give a link where they can start playing the multiple-choice test.

In the Kahoot website, the students will see some questions related to the lesson.
-
The students will tell what the word that is being described by choosing the correct answer.

To end the lesson, the teacher will let the students share what they’ve learned by posting it in the Padlet website. The students can also share their opinions or insights about the lesson. This activity is entitled as “Brilliant Ideas”.

By doing this activity, the teacher will know the students’ learnings, opinions and insights about the lesson.
